Meet Jaya

Hello! I’m Jaya Mallik (she/her), a birth and postpartum doula based in Maple Valley, WA, where I live with my husband, Nathan, and our two daughters, Asha (10) and Diya (6).

My journey into doula work began with my own birth experiences. Growing up in a South Asian household, conversations about birth and postpartum care were rarely discussed, leaving me unprepared when my first birth turned into an emergency. I struggled with postpartum depression and wished I had a supportive, calming presence to help me through it.

By the time I was expecting my second child, I had learned about doulas and found one who honored my cultural background and values. Her support made a world of difference—I felt empowered, centered, and confident in my birth choices, and was able to avoid postpartum depression. I believe her presence played a crucial role in my healing and breastfeeding success, and it’s that same support I’m dedicated to providing to others.

As a Woman of Color, I am acutely aware of the healthcare inequities and racism that persist, and I use my experience as a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practitioner to advocate for my clients. Every birthing person, regardless of their identity, deserves a compassionate, empowering, and dignified experience. My role as your birth and postpartum doula is to help bring that vision to life, offering you the care and support you need to navigate this transformative journey with confidence and peace.
